Hi, I’m Jennifer Howell, the creator of Hawthorn & Hazel Homeschool, and I’m so glad you’re here!

I have a passion for homeschooling, which started when I was teaching nature to kids at an education center on the beach in Florida. Many of the students who attended my classes were homeschoolers, and I developed a monthly program for them to learn about the ocean. I enjoyed teaching them, but I soon discovered that as much as I liked it, what I really wanted was to teach my own child.

Several years later, after my daughter was born, I casually looked into different types of homeschooling and followed a few people on Instagram. One day, I came across a Venn diagram comparing Waldorf to Montessori. I had heard of both and knew a little about Montessori, but I didn’t know anything about Waldorf. As I read the words and phrases listed for Waldorf, I was drawn toward it and soon joined Facebook groups to learn more.

So here I am now with a homeschooling site dedicated to Waldorf-inspired learning and helping you homeschool your children from a place of rest. Rest is in Christ. Restoration is in Christ. And rhythms of the years and the weeks and the days were even set in motion by Him. Your homeschooling journey can be beautiful, and I will be here for you every step of the way.
